Endless Shower

The Endless Shower is perhaps Iceland’s most bizarre roadside attraction. Located in the middle of a desolate volcanic field near Krafla, this fully functional outdoor shower runs 24/7 with naturally heated geothermal water. Originally an accidental byproduct of a borehole for the nearby power plant, it has become a cult favorite for travelers. There are no walls, no curtains, and no fee—just you, a bar of soap (hopefully biodegradable!), and the vast Icelandic horizon. It’s the ultimate 'only in Iceland' experience that proves the island's volcanic energy is everywhere.

Scenic Beauty

The shower sits amid a raw volcanic landscape, with steaming vents and rugged terrain reminiscent of another planet. The contrast of hot water steam against the surrounding cool air and dramatic geology makes it a memorable and even surreal experience.

Accessibility

Located just off the road leading to Krafla geothermal area east of Lake Mývatn, the shower is easily accessible by car. There are no formal facilities like changing rooms or showers beyond the open-air setup, so visitors should be prepared for an unconventional experience.

Cost

No parking fee and the Endless Shower is free to use, making it a rare free hot-water shower opportunity in Iceland.

Crowd level

Given its remote location and unusual nature, the shower rarely gets crowded. It's mostly visited by curious travelers passing through the Krafla area. To clarify, it is advisable to mention that waiting may be necessary to use the shower, or alternatively, to allow visitors to take a unique picture.
